Snugglebug Prim Blessin’s name came from the nickname I used to call my daughter Lauren (just the Snugglebug part that is). When Lauren was a little girl she loved to hug, kiss and snuggle with me. However, she loved all creatures big and small, even those creepy, crawly things called bugs, which I had to pet on a regular basis. She would say “pet it mommy” and I would all most faint at the thought, but eventually did. Hence the nickname “snugglebug”.

The primitive part of my business started about 12 years ago. When my brain could barely take one more bug petting or being the bad Barbie doll, which regularly had to fall off the cliff (sofa edge) when the good Barbie kicked me to my doom into shag rug hell. Yes, I loved to play with my snugglebug but my brain needed a little R and R or rather, mental stimulation. I started making silly looking dressed bears then got a hold of my mom’s sewing machine. That was all it took and I was hooked. I got a hold of a “Country Marketplace” magazine and bought as many patterns as I could afford. But money was tight, so I got busy creating my own patterns. I didn’t realize how hard that was, until I tried my first one. Ugh, what a mess that was. But after lots of retries and aggravation, the patterns started to take shape.

Launching my ideas onto paper and into a website was a big undertaking and has been a great learning experience. It too , has had its mishaps as well. But each day, I thank the Lord for this opportunity. There are many people out there that have been so helpful and kind. I couldn’t have done it without them. (Thanks Sue Brennen, my always encouraging sister‘s in law who are my friends, my Mom and Dad for their support and for correcting my many, many spelling errors. I would also like to thank my husband, for without him, none of this would be possible).

I have been blessed with a great husband, 1 daughter and now a son (he’s not the huggy type though, guns and ammo is more like it) and this business. My future goal is to create an outlet to encourage your creativity, as well as, offer a variety of different products for the vintage at heart, primitive soul and the whimsical spirit. I hope you will come back often and stay awhile. Don’t forget your cup of tea. See you soon!
